PROUD TO BE SPARTANS

SOME USEFUL INFO FOR NEWBIES

OWN A  SIGNED SALE SHARKS PORTRAIT

Just a couple of weeks after Queer As Folk first aired on TV, another group of lads on Canal Street started shaking things up too.

Click below to delve into the history of the club from the first players’ meeting back in 1999 to today, with our multiple, mixed-gender teams as we play Union in the Halbro Leagues and 02 Touch across the UK.

Read more about our small part in helping to kickstart the International Gay Rugby movement and our continued efforts to grow Inclusive Rugby and play the game we love.

IT'S MORE THAN RUGBY

We work hard to get seen and heard chatting about Gay and Inclusive Rugby because each one of us remembers how good it felt to see people ‘like us’ challenging stereotypes as we grew up.  Press play to watch this ITV News package from September

WORK WITH US

We are proud of the work we do to promote equality in sport and our efforts to grow inclusive rugby around the country, well beyond Manchester and our own backyard.

Click here to read or download our PDF Guide for businesses to find out more about our fundraising efforts and how, when big brands work with us, it can be to the benefit of young LGBTQ+ people from Manchester and much further beyond.

OUR TRUE COLOURS HAVE BEEN SHINING THROUGH FOR YEARS

We’ve been wearing the Pride Rainbow Colours for longer than any other sports team we can think of.

We believe you can be a credible rugby-playing sportsperson AND be an incredibly proud part of the LGBT+ Community at the same time.

“A positive atmosphere, good coaching.”

“It built my confidence, fitness, social circle, memories and experiences.”

SPARTAN PLAYERS
2018 SURVEY

I was involved right at the beginning…..Luckily enough they were looking for sponsors….And [we] decided to.

We’re quite actively involved through sponsorship, fundraising, events….Stuff like that.

It’s huge…..This group taking on the country.  Its absolutely amazing.

This social group is now a serious group organisation to grow to this size, which is one of the biggest rugby groups in the UK, not only because it’s gay but because it’s a group of friends playing the game.
